Why choose a wegnalls willow coffin?
We know that saying goodbye to a loved one and choosing a coffin can be difficult, which is why Steph will take the utmost care and attention to detail when weaving your loved one’s willow coffin.
When you purchase directly from us, you can be assured that each coffin is handmade with love, using local materials and to an exceptionally high standard.

As Photographed Above, all of Our willow Coffins have:
- Different base options suitable for cremation & burial (traditional and natural burials)
- Been woven with sustainable UK grown willow (Homegrown brown willow or traditional ‘buff’ willow from Somerset). They can be customised with different colours of willow – subject to availability. (Read more about willow types here.)
- Solid pine lid centre
- Welsh Woollen rope handles
- Handmade willow toggles and British wool braid fastenings
- Unbleached Calico cotton linings
- Mattress and pillow filled with hay from our permanent pasture
- 100% plastic free construction
- Name plate included.
- The option to be part of the weaving process or add special details to the coffin.

Our coffins
Most of our coffins have two rounded ends (a requirement for cremation*) and feature three weight-bearing handles on each side.
You may wish to choose one of the popular designs below, or we can weave a customised coffin using different combinations of willow.
* The double rounded end coffin with a flat ply base is the most popular design. It is certified for cremation, in all crematoriums across the UK. It can be woven in all of the willow designs shown above.
You can read more in depth about the different willow coffin options for cremation, burial and natural burial on the blog, here.
A handmade, bespoke willow coffin starts at £850.
As a local maker, Steph offers family-orientated, personal service. Each coffin is thoughtfully made and with your loved one in mind, unlike an standard coffin.
We value creating connections between the natural materials, families and the finished coffin. Family, friends and loved ones are welcome to help weave part of the coffin. You may wish to add some special items in the weaving or linings. Or if you are further afield, receive photos of the coffin in progress. This is a complimentary (and optional) service that we offer to all customers. Please get in touch to discuss this further and Steph can arrange your visit.
Do you have a question?
We are happy to talk through the options with you, either in person, over the phone or email. Contact Steph here or read more on the FAQs page.
